
Sortmyprep, an education technology startup backed by BITS Pilani, has raised 350,000 dollars in a pre seed funding round. The startup is building an AI powered education platform designed to help students learn more effectively and perform better in exams. At the center of this platform is Sorty, a conversational AI tutor built to guide students through their learning journey.
The company was founded by Ananya Pritam, Aryaman Adhikary, and Naman Kothari, who set out to combine artificial intelligence with personalized learning. Their goal is to create a system that adapts to each student rather than offering a one size fits all approach to education.
Sortmyprep is already serving students in more than 15 countries, showing early signs of global demand for its platform. A large part of this growth has come organically, with 71 percent of its users joining through referrals and word of mouth rather than paid advertising. This suggests that students who use the platform are finding enough value in it to recommend it to others.
One of the more notable achievements for the startup is the creation of a proprietary dataset containing more than 1 million human generated learning data points. This dataset plays a key role in training and improving Sorty, the AI tutor, allowing it to better understand how students learn and where they struggle.
Sortmyprep initially built its platform around international curricula such as IB and IGCSE. The startup is now expanding its focus to include CBSE, ICSE, and other global curricula, a move that could significantly widen its user base by tapping into a much larger student population.
The startup has attracted support from some well known names in the technology and startup ecosystem, including BITS Pilani, NVIDIA, Google for Startups, and OpenAI. This backing adds credibility to the startup’s mission and may help it scale faster as it grows its user base and product offerings.
With this fresh funding, Sortmyprep aims to continue building on its early momentum. The founders believe that combining artificial intelligence with personalization can genuinely reshape how students prepare for exams and approach learning as a whole.
