Amit Sharma, who served as Chief Technology Officer at Dream Sports, has announced his departure from the company after a ten year journey. He shared the news through a LinkedIn post, reflecting on his time at the company and revealing plans to start a new venture focused on artificial intelligence.
A Decade of Building at Dream Sports
Sharma joined Dream11 at an early stage when the company had just 45 employees and a tech team of only 20 people. As CTO, he played a central role in growing that tech team to more than 600 members, all based in Mumbai. Under his leadership, the team worked on building complex technical systems and developed some of the most widely used sports apps in the country.
Before joining Dream11, Sharma spent twelve years working in the United States, where he built his career in the Silicon Valley tech ecosystem. He worked alongside professionals at companies like Yahoo and Netflix. In 2016, he made the decision to relocate to India along with his family, including two young children. According to his post, many people around him questioned the move at the time, but it eventually led him to the opportunity at Dream11.
In his message, Sharma expressed appreciation for his team members who contributed to the company’s success, as well as his peers who supported him throughout the journey. He specifically thanked Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth, the founders of Dream Sports, for trusting him with the opportunity to lead the technology function.
Looking ahead, Sharma revealed that his next step involves building something new, and mentioned that artificial intelligence will be a core part of this upcoming venture. He did not share further details about the project but indicated that more information will follow in the near future.
