Sportskeeda CEO Ajay Pratap Singh Steps Down After 6.5 Years

Ajay Pratap Singh officially stepped down as CEO of Sportskeeda on 31st May 2026, marking the end of a six-and-a-half-year tenure at the sports media company. In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Singh called the period the most exciting and rewarding stretch of his professional life, one filled with rapid growth, a strong team culture, and milestones he says are hard to sum up in a single post.

Singh’s journey with Sportskeeda began unexpectedly. He recalled first meeting co-founder Porush Jain back in October 2019 for what was originally a conversation about leading the app business. That initial plan, as Singh humorously noted, quickly changed and what followed was years of building the company far beyond its original scope.

From $2.5M to Nearly $24M in Revenue

The numbers tell a significant growth story. When Singh took charge, the company was generating around $2.5 million in revenue with a breakeven EBITDA in FY20. By FY25, that figure had climbed to nearly $24 million in revenue alongside an $8.7 million EBITDA. The company also expanded its property portfolio from a single asset to eight during this period, a reflection of the scale at which the business evolved under his leadership.

Despite the impressive financials, Singh emphasized that the real highlight of his time at Sportskeeda was not the growth charts, it was the culture. He described every team meeting and brainstorming session as feeling more like a reunion among school or college friends than a corporate gathering. According to him, he never walked out of the office feeling drained, which he credits entirely to the people around him.

He gave special recognition to Nitish Mittersain and Manish Agarwal for their consistent support, thanked Porush Jain for backing him with unconditional trust from day one, and acknowledged Anirudh Kumar as a key partner throughout the journey. Singh also expressed warmth toward the broader Sportskeeda team, noting the list of people he wanted to thank was far too long to include individually.

Singh confirmed he is now moving to the other side of the table, transitioning from operator to entrepreneur. While he kept the specifics under wraps, he stated he is excited to kick off his own entrepreneurial journey and promised more details soon.
