Intrinsic Foundries Raises ₹12 Crore Seed Funding to Turn Industrial Carbon Emissions into Valuable Products

A Jharkhand-based startup is taking a fresh approach to one of the world’s biggest environmental challenges. Intrinsic Foundries, founded in 2023 and headquartered in Hazaribagh, has raised ₹12 crore (around $1.4 million) in seed funding led by Transition VC.

Unlike traditional carbon capture methods that simply store emissions underground often at high cost with little financial return Intrinsic Foundries converts industrial carbon into high-value biochemicals. These end products have real demand across sectors like food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, agriculture, and advanced materials, making the model both environmentally and commercially viable.

The technology at its core uses microalgae-based biorefinery systems powered by proprietary photobioreactors and Factory 4.0 automation. The company already validated this approach at a thermal power plant, where it demonstrated reliable, continuous carbon capture in an industrial setting.

The newly raised capital will go toward running industrial pilots, advancing R&D, filing patents, and growing both its engineering and commercial teams. The company also plans to set up a US entity to support its global expansion ambitions.
