Rekise Marine has closed a $9.7 million seed funding round led by Accel in India. The round also saw participation from NKSquared, along with notable individual backers including Sameer Brij Verma, Sandeep Singhal, Industrial47, and Singularity AMC. The capital will go toward advancing the company’s mission of designing and building autonomous ships and small submarines entirely within India.

Naval forces around the world are moving away from large, traditional fleets toward smaller, smarter, and unmanned vessels driven by software. As this shift accelerates, maritime autonomy is becoming a strategic priority for nations rather than just a technology trend. Rekise Marine was built around the belief that India needs to develop this capability independently, rather than relying on imports in a domain that touches national security.

A Full Stack Approach to Building Autonomous Vessels

What sets Rekise Marine apart is that it handles every layer of the process in house. The company designs the physical vessels, builds the autonomy software that powers them, and integrates all the systems together on its own. A single software platform runs across every type of vessel the company produces, from small crafts that can be carried by hand to extra large submersibles.

The company currently has four products in its portfolio. Jaldoot is an autonomous surface vehicle that has already been delivered to customers. Swadheen is another surface vehicle that has completed open sea autonomous trials in partnership with Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. MPAUV is a man portable underwater vehicle currently in trials with Goa Shipyard Limited. The most significant product is Jalkapi, an approximately 11 meter, 20 ton extra large autonomous underwater vehicle. Jalkapi was won through the Indian Navy’s Aditi 1.0 challenge under the iDEX program and is described as the largest and most complex unmanned platform that the Indian Navy’s Submarine Design Group has selected for potential induction.

Rekise Marine plans to use the seed funding to complete Jalkapi and put it through sea trials. The company also intends to further develop its in house autonomy software and grow its engineering team to support the expanding product pipeline.

With a live product already delivered, multiple vehicles in active trials, and a flagship platform backed by the Indian Navy, Rekise Marine is emerging as one of the more serious deep tech bets in India’s defense and maritime space.
